Glamour Model 101

If you’ve seen Maxim’s cover, or a swimsuit calendar that is popular with men, you’ve seen glamour models.

Glamour modeling, both nude and non-nude, is a form of modeling that focuses on the sexy, the feminine, and ideally, the classy. Glamour models are generally curvier than high fashion models.  They can be tall, or short, as long as they are height-weight proportionate. They can be girl-next-door or exotic but generally have sex appeal. If this sounds like you, you may want to consider glamour modeling as an option.

Glamour modeling, unlike fashion modeling, works on accentuating curves instead of downplaying them. It isn’t uncommon to see larger size glamour models, and also models who are older than the typical ages of fashion models.

The kinds of outfits that glamour models will invest in for castings and test shoots can include swimsuits (think swimsuit models like in Sports Illustrated), lingerie sets, shorts, mini dresses, etc. Sexy, glamour outfits are known for being skimpy, and being cute. There is an emphasis on being feminine but still dignified. The makeup and hair for these looks tends to be sexier and “glossier” with smoky eye, pouty lips and big hair.

Glamour models occasionally do runway for clients that prefer a sexy look and a curvier body but their main work tends to be in print such as magazines, calendars, posters, catalog, etc.
