Swimsuit models are known for making a killing off of looking great in a bikini (or a swim-trunks if you’re a guy). Do you think you have what it takes to be a swimsuit model? Consider the following description of the average one.
Most swimsuit models are very toned, proportionate and in great shape. Tanned skin is a common trait of most swimsuit and bikini models but NOT necessary. Many mostly fake tan as it’s safer and faster. Most swimwear models are a B, C or D cup. Almost universally curvier than the standard runway model, swimsuit models do not have to worry about height minimums nor being super-skinny.
The vast majority of swimsuit modeling is print modeling, for magazines, posters, calendars, catalogs and/or internet use. Swimsuit modeling sometimes is a form of glamour modeling shot at beaches, resorts or in a studio with controlled lighting. To target this niche, have several photos in your portfolio that show your body in bikinis, lingerie or form flattering garments with great lighting and makeup. It’s a good idea to keep a stock of tanning cream, bikinis and heels in your tote bag when you are going on castings for such work.
